Hi,
I can see in the system log files that some of you are getting error when uploading images files. I have seen this problem for quite sometime but I have never been able to reproduce this error. So if you have an JPG or PNG image that you are having problems uploading, please send it to us so we can see what is wrong with the file.
The problem is that our system throws an error when trying to get the image dimension. It says the image is not a valid format.

I am having this problem with ALL jpegs that I try to insert/upload. However, uploading jpeg images works fine on my windows xp computer, but won't work on my windows 7. PNG files upload in Windows 7 but not jpegs. I can't send you the literally hundreds of jpeg images because I am using Fatpaint to teach a high school desktop publishing class. For now we will stick with our slower and older XP computers, but we sure would like to use Fatpaint in our new lab with Windows 7 computers!!!!

Mario, you've got to fix this, man. Now some of my students are having the same problem in XP and in every browser. It has rendered Fatpaint useless to us.

Hi,
I have been trying to locate this bug for months, but I am getting no help from the Fatpaint users and I cannot reproduce this bug! I have tried many times to upload png's, jpg's and it works when I try it. Perhaps this could be a firewall issue. Are you also having problems when uploading files from your home?
I will do all I can to fix bugs, but people are not reporting them to us! We have not received 1 single bug report for the last 2 months. How can I fix bugs if people don't report them? I posted about this problem, and asked people for help and I got no response at all, so in my mind not many was having this problem…
I will try to find this bug now…

I spent some time trying to reproduce this bug, and I saw 1 time out of 30 times that the upload did not work. I did not get any errors but the image was not visible on the page. When I tried again it worked and since that I could not reproduce the bug again. I looked in the log files and did not see anything wrong. Usually the bug I get in the log shows a problem getting the image dimension. So I suspect that this single failure I got was because of connection a problem.
I tested on different remote computers, running windows 7 and windows xp, using firefox and chrome. So I have not gotten any closer to finding what is wrong… The only thing I can see is that the users having this problem, the file they upload is saved on the server with a size of 0, that explains why the system cannot get the image dimension.
I would like one of you that are having this problem, to let me log in using your account so I can reproduce this error. So, are you having this problem, send your login details to support@fatpaint.com and help me out. I will them try to log in as you to see if I get the same error.

I am working on an alternative upload method, using HTML (currently there is only a flash based upload method), so later today I will release a new version of the editor with this new upload functionality, and I hope it will solve the problems some of you are having.

I managed to reproduce the upload bug, but only on Internet Explorer 9. The problem only happens when using Flash to upload files. The new upload panel I added at the bottom of the page, uses HTML5/HTML4 for doing the upload and it works on Internet Explorer 9.
So, if you get an upload error using the Flash uploader, just try again using the upload panel at the bottom of the page. It should work… So I presume this issue has been resolved.
